This workshop will be a unique opportunity to learn with Darby and Shankara. Each section will be an in depth experience and opportunity to explore various aspects of the Ashtanga Yoga method, philosophy and unique teaching technique. It will be a workshop for beginners and teachers, as both can learn from a return to the basics as well as working with another’s body.
Some of the topics covered:
-A thorough exploration of the breathing process, Ujai breath and Pranayama.
-Understanding and application of the Bandhas, and an initiation to the study of the Nadis; the energetic pathways of the body.
-An accurate look into the Vinyasa method, breath for breath.
We will develop an understanding of the Why of each movement, and explore the various poses of the primary series. Learning simple concepts to understand proper and safe alignment in the different Asanas.
-Forward bends, back bends, inversions, arm balance… we will explore the different Asana of the primary and second series, variations and an understanding of the purpose of the different asana groups.
-There will be an opportunity to learn basic, safe and clear adjustments, concepts that apply in a general way to any asana as well as a study of individual poses and adjustments for each.
