Information sessions:
Friday, May 10, 9-9:30am

Shri Yoga’s 200-hour Teacher Training blends excellence in technical instruction with a heart-centered philosophy that emphasizes a deepening connection to one’s own inner being as the source of awakening and transformation.
We view the path to becoming a yoga teacher as one of empowerment and self-discovery – a path that will inspire you to go deep into your experience of yoga, challenge you toward refined awareness and precision in asana practice, and empower you with the skills to share the gifts of yoga practice with others.
Training Overview
We believe that all great teachers of yoga are fundamentally devoted students who are actively and deeply committed to yoga as a path of inner fulfilment and expansion. With this in mind, our training program is divided into two parts.
Part One: Foundations of Practice
The first part of the program is designed to immerse you in your own study and practice of our alignment-based, heart-centered hatha yoga in an atmosphere that sparks insight, discovery and understanding. It will include:
Extensive study of bio-mechanical principles of alignment in asana
An overview of the historical roots and development of the yoga tradition
Study of all the traditional paths of yoga philosophy with an emphasis on the teachings of non-dual Shaivite Tantra
Guidance in personal practice
Anatomy study, Fundamentals of Pranayama, Meditation instruction
Part One may be taken as a stand-alone 100-hour program for all students wishing to deepen their yoga practice without pursuing teacher training.
Part Two: The Art and Skill of Teaching Yoga
The second part of our program focuses on taking the knowledge of practice from part one and learning how to share it in ways that uplift and inspire students. Designed as a truly empowering and transformational process, each student will be guided step by step in all areas of great yoga teaching, including:
Taking the seat of the teacher with confidence, authenticity and love
Finding your own unique voice
Effective verbal instructions for all the basic asanas
Progressive and purposeful class sequencing
Skilful observation
Physical adjustments
