Our last early morning class for this season is Thursday, May 21, at 6:30 AM.

The morning classes have been a very rewarding experience for me, and I know that many of you have appreciated the.  I will be looking at options for starting them up again later this year.

As the days get longer and warmer, soon it will be time for yoga in the park again. We will be back in our favourite corner of Benny Park (near the corner of Cavendish and Monkland) on Tuesday evenings at 6 PM, starting June 9th.  Prices remain the same: $13 for drop-in, $12 for 6 classes, seniors and students $10.

Sunday morning 9:30 AM classes at Centre Shanti Yoga continue, as well as my Wednesday and Friday 6 PM classes at the Hampton YMCA.

It is a great honour to teach you yoga, and I look forward to sharing this practice with you again this summer under the open sky.

Hatha Yoga: The Warrior Flow

Hatha Yoga with Malcolm McLean, RYT

NDG

When the confidence which is primordially free
Was followed and delighted in,
Countless multitudes of warriors arose.

...They were always without quarrel,
Ever loving and generous...

- from Shambhala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior,
by Chogyam Trungpa

Follow the path of your breath through a series that leads through Warrior 1, 2 and 3.

Enter the flow, and retrace millions of years of evolution as you move: from sitting to all fours, to standing with perfect balance on two feet, to balancing on one foot -- and reaching for the stars.

Build strength, and flexibility, incrementally, every time you practice. Overcome primordial fear. As your practice advances, move into arm balances, and inversions: establish a new relationship to gravity. Then melt down to relaxation, release, and renewed energy.

A carefully-paced practice, accessible to beginners, gentle to the body, and challenging to advanced beginners.

Teacher Qualifications

In Montreal, the most widely accepted standard
for accrediting yoga teachers is the
Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT)
standard of the
Yoga Alliance,
a US-based organization.

It represents a great deal of effort among
the main systems of yoga in the United States
to provide a very specific definition of
a yoga teacher
for accreditation purposes.

The same yoga systems are
widely taught in Canada,
and are representative of yoga in the Montreal region.
