Adaptive Yoga
with Michael Bridge-Dickson
Adaptive Yoga is an alignment-based yoga, unifying body, mind, and spirit. It is a modern evolution of the traditional practice, which was always
intended to suit the needs of the individual. The system works first with the physical body and its alignment, building an even balance between strength, stability, flexibility, and symmetry between the
front and back of the body, left and right, upper and lower halves, linking as much of the body within consciousness as possible.
Traditional and esoteric aspects of yoga are introduced
throughout the ongoing development of the physical practice to honor
the yogic tradition. Though much of this process is achieved through
yogic postures, many other traditional yogic tools are used whenever
they may be to the student's maximum benefit. In Adaptive Yoga, the
classical poses are adapted for individuals of all needs and abilities
using modifications and sequencing of poses for maximal physical,
physiological, organic, mental, and energetic effects.

About Budokon
The word Bu-do-kon translates directly in Japanese as (Bu) Warrior (Do) Way (Kon) Spirit, or Way of the Spiritual Warrior.
The
Budokon physical practice draws upon ancient and modern yogic and
martial arts styles. The foundation of the Budokon physical practice is
precision, alignment and Zen mind. All Budokon techniques are designed
to explore the body's full range of motion. The practice dances between
agility, control, speed, power, balance, flow, focus, calm, precision,
flow and mastery in the body, mind and spirit. The Budokon Zen practice
is seated meditation. Zen is about single minded living. Zen is about
freedom from our own ideas. This practice is the foundation of Budokon
and weaves its way through everything we do.
Budokon is a living art. By that I mean it is the art of
living. It is your waking and your sleeping, your walking and your
sitting, your living and your dying. I cannot say that it is more
special than any other art. In fact, it is not special at all. It is
the practitioner who brings all that the art is, all that the art will
ever be. Budokon is not about gaining ideas. There is nothing to gain
from it. It is simply a way. Our way is the Zen way. We are not a
religion or a devotional practice. We do not practice to become
enlightened. We practice because we are enlightened. If you are seeking
something in order to gain something, this is the wrong practice.
Budokon is empty of gaining ideas. If you believe there is something to
gain from it, you will always be disappointed by it. This is the first
lesson in our art. We must come to it, like all things, with a pure
mind, free from attachment and gaining ideas. This is why we suffer.
Budokon is freedom from suffering, nothing more.

The Art of Living Course
The Art of Living Course gives participants practical knowledge and ancient techniques that unlock their deepest potential and bring fullness to life. Whether happy and successful or feeling the stress of poor health, disappointments,
or anxiety, every participant is cared for and comes away lighter, with effective tools for releasing mental and physical blockages and increasing his or her health, energy, peace of mind, self-knowledge, awareness, and joy.
The Sudarshan Kriya, taught on the course, is a technique that incorporates specific rhythms of breath to release stress, support the various organs and systems within the body, transform overpowering emotions and restore peace of mind.
According to the age old science of Yoga, impurities which accumulate in the cells cause sluggishness and promote disease. Sudarshan Kriya oxygenates the cells and rapidly flushes out impurities. Physically, the cells are vitalized; emotionally, one feels balance and contentment.
The course also includes meditation, gentle Yoga, and skills for dealing effectively with life’s challenging emotions and situations.
Several independent studies on the numerous mental and physical health benefits of the course have been published in international peer-reviewed journals and confirm what participants commonly report:
- Reduced stress, anxiety and tension
- More joy, enthusiasm and peace of mind
- Less fatigue and improved efficiency
- Heightened self-esteem and confidence
- Enhanced physical health and immune system
- Better communication and interpersonal skills
- Increased focus, clarity, and concentration
- Sharper observation and clearer perception
- Anti-aging effect.

Association Yoga/Meditation Sant Mat
Sant Mat is an inner Yoga/Meditation free of charge. It focuses on the soul
which must rise above the body into the Realm of Spirit to awaken into
the highest consciousness, Self-Realization. The soul must learn to
reconnect with the Divine manifestations of inner Light and Sound, the
link between soul and Over-Soul, in some traditions called the Word,
the Holy Sound Current or Holy Spirit. A competent living Master-Saint
can establish this inner connection in the aspirant, granting a
first-hand contact with the inner Light and Sound. This is a free
gift. Once this connection with the Sound Current is established one
can practice daily toward Self-Realization, inner peace, love, less
stress and better health. Free weekly yoga/meditation groups are
offered.
This yoga is a practice of spiritual science or mysticism, universal in nature. It can be practiced by people of all ages, traditions, and religions.

initially offered illumination on his yogic path.

Christine Harkness
New to Yoga? Here is a nice way to start: Affordable small-group or private sessions at your home, at your place of work, or at a private Plateau loft/studio.
I teach Hatha Yoga (Kripalu-style) to real beginners (people with very little or no yoga experience). I suggest an 8-week program to gently and safely prepare you for drop-in studio classes or a beginner-level home practice.
I am a Montreal-based Yoga teacher registered with the Yoga Alliance.
I was introduced to yoga by my mother who had discovered this ancient practice while living in Madhya Pradesh, India. I have been leading yoga classes since 2002, and I completed my 200-hr teacher training certification in 2003. Currently, I am seeking my professional-level
(500hr) certification at Kripalu Centre for Yoga and Health in the Berkshires, Massachussetts.
There is no reason to rush: Start with the fundamentals, and build from a solid foundation. I hope to guide you towards your own unique, evolving, life-long yoga practice.

Eliza Moore.
Rooftop Yoga at Spa Orange.
Instructor Eliza Moore was trained in Montreal by both Mark Darby and Hart Lazer in the Ashtanga and Iyengar methods of Yoga. Her teaching pulls from both traditions, pairing a flowing sequence with a focus on physical alignment. Also
a musician, Eliza finds joy and inspiration in rhythm and melody. She
uses a diverse soundtrack to awaken a dance-like quality in her
classes. This musical tapestry gives the students a frame work from
which to link the flow of breath and movement as well as a playful
approach to discovering the Asanas.
Eliza's teaching is also informed by her training in Eastern
medicine as a Shiatsu practitioner. She incorporates her knowledge of
the subtle energetic layers or meridian system of the body, introducing
her students to a more whole sense of self-awareness, beyond the
material realm. All Yoga Classes include use of Spa Facilities.

IYENGAR YOGA
ROSEMONT AND MILE-END
Yoga is a system of exercise that uses physical postures and breathing techniques to work the entire body and mind, strengthen muscles,
lubricate joints and rejuvenate the brain and other internal organs.
This applied science of the mind and body seeks a state of perfect mental and physical health. It is a system of
personal development based on honesty, non-violence and personal study.
An Indian philosophy that has been practiced for thousands of years, Yoga is highly pertinent to modern life. Its practice develops a
strong, flexible and healthy body, a relaxed and alert mind and a contented outlook on life.
Certified Iyengar Yoga teachers go through a rigorous three-to-five year teacher training program based on an international
syllabus and standards set by Yogacharya Shri B.K.S. Iyengar, to:
1. Develop maturity in the personal practice of asana and pranayama;
2. Develop a thorough understanding of the asanas and pranayamas for teaching purposes;
3. Gain proficiency in teaching skills;
4. Gain a basic education in anatomy;
5. Develop a working understanding of the philosophical basis of Astanga Yoga in the Iyengar Method;
6. Learn the various precautions that need to be followed for students with common problems;
7. Practice their teaching skills under the guidance of a qualified training teacher.
To enter a teacher training program, students must be competent Iyengar yoga students who maintain a daily yoga practice. We encourage any yoga
student to check the conditions of certification of their yoga teacher!!!

Marie-Daphné Roy
I began practicing yoga in 1996, and started teaching in 1999 at the
Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Western Massachusetts. In 2000,
upon completion of a two year residency program and a 500 hour Kripalu
Yoga Teacher Training, I've pursued my training with teachers from
different horizons and schools of thoughts, both in Montreal and
abroad. Currently, I teach group and private classes for beginners,
intermediate, advanced and pregnant students. I believe yoga is a great
means to reconnect to ourselves, our bodies, our emotions and our
thoughts. During the poses we focus on alignment principles, as well as
developing a sense of self-awareness, self-observation and compassion.
In massage therapy I practice the Reiki Usui method and Thai
Yoga massage, as well as Swedish massage and Myofascial Therapy. I find
massage therapy to be a complementary tool in any quest for physical,
emotional and psychological well being; it helps in reducing stress
levels (yours as well as mine!), and works equally for sedentary and
active people. |

Sandeep Sharma
Yoga teacher and 3rd level Reiki master, with seven years experience
in India and two in Canada. Trained as a yoga teacher at Kurukshetra
University, Kurukshetra, Haryana state near capital of India, the land
of Mahabharta, "where Lord Krishna gave the concept of Karma
Yoga, that every human being has only one right and the right is to do
his duty."
My yoga is a beautiful combination of asanas, pranayama, and
meditation. I put great emphasis on each individual, with the belief
that the teaching of Yoga must be tailored to fit the person, not the
other way round. It is a gentle, fluid yoga which is about real
grounding both mental and physical and release of energy that comes
from it. Using gravity and energy, the body can open up like the petals of a lotus...
To let you know the true meaning of different types of Yoga - Ashtanga, Hatha, Kundalini, Raja, Karma...
Classes offered in several studios, corporate classes.

The Montreal Mind Yoga Studio
Ancient Yoga masters, and some more recently such as Charles F. Haanel, have made it clear that Yoga is the one success that brings all other success. That Yoga is the cessation of thought, the ability to control
the mind. Jorj Elprehzleinn is a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher who now offers in Montreal his world acclaimed system of mind yoga in personal training classes near the Snowdon Metro, near the corner of Decarie and Queen Mary Rd.
Did you know that Yoga is composed of 8 levels? Starting at the base with fundamental practices for living, then moving to Asana, then breath control, and the the other 5 stages are all stages of mind
control! Did you know that the first Yoga masters who went away into caves and other secluded places emerged the asanas from an original practice of mind control?
|
Life Transformation System Z is a practical method of actually applying and experiencing tangible benefits to your daily regular life without having to withdraw from society. You get the method, system and tools, and now the live
training in Montreal, to experience the practice of mind control in such a way as to transform the life you have now, in all areas, into the life you imagine is better. With a steady asana practice, and a
proper base of good character for living life, you are ready to experience the magic and centeredness that can happen when you experience - by using this system- what Buddha has taught, that with
our thoughts we create the world. We are what we think. All that we are arises from our thoughts, as surely as the cart follows the horse. But how do you apply that wisdom in daily life? With this mind yoga system.
Our live training classes in Montreal teach you an exact method that is fun and easy and reliable so that you can experience and taste the mastery of mind that is essential to Yoga. Your Asana
practice will benefit tremendously. Your understanding and joy of what Yoga really is, will expand and grow delightfully. If you are a Yoga teacher with a Yoga studio in Montreal, Jorj will visit and train you
and your students in this method to your great pleasure and enjoyment. With Peace and Love.
Call 347.284.6658 or e-mail jorj@togetherwithdivinelove.com to book a session, or find out when our next class is scheduled.
www.magicalmindpower.com is our site where the program materials can be obtained to get started. Combine the home study materials with the live training sessions in
Montreal that show you how to use the materials effectively as a daily mind yoga practice -with benefits you can measure - along with your asana and conscious living practices to make your life amazing and
improve so that not only your health, but all your dreams come true. Success in Yoga brings all other success in life. Concentrate on yoga, and everything else you need to express your life purpose will come to
you. Yoga is the control of the thought waves of your mind. Life Transformation System Z shows you how to do this most difficult endeavour in a concise and practical application that people have said
is pure genius. But more importantly, it works. |

Veena Yoga
I don't believe in rigidity. I love fluidity.
My Yoga is organic, not an organisation: an inspiration, not an institution.
We must never stop telling ourselves: our reality is only the shadow of our possibilities.
Yoga is simply the participation in the wonder of Life as it is already perfectly Given, and certainly not the imposition of the will on the body and breath.
Moving with the breath is an extraordinary medicine. We use the Asanas, the bodily forms to take part in the process of the breath and especially to receive the Inhalation, the Feminine Force,
with all the systems of our anatomy from the crown to the base. The Exhalation strengthens all these systems. These are useful tools.
I teach the basic principles of Yoga and the Breath inspired by the tradition of Krishnamacharya; the alignment of the body inspired by Donna Farrhi, the Body-Mind Centering of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen; and the inner flow
inspired by Angela Farmer. My philosophy is inspired by Mark Withwell, Alan Clements, U.G. and J. Krishnamurti, Andrew Harvey, Christiane Singer and Life itself. The
mysterious constellation of the whole Universe within and outside of me, is my ultimate teacher. Danielle Ouellette, studio director.
Veena can also be rented for your workshops, etc.

Yoga For Pregnancy/Yoga Prenatal
Pregnancy is an important time in a woman`s life, a period full of
physical, mantal, emotional and spiritual changes. Giving birth is
probably the time of biggest transformation in our life, the time when
a couple becomes a family, a woman becomes a mother and a man becomes
a father! For most of us this period requires a lot of adjustments.
Practising yoga regularly will help you to go through your pregnancy
with grace, peace and confidence. Through the practices of postures (asanas),
relaxation, meditation and breathing techniques (pranayamas) you will
achieve a more balanced mind and react less to the changes that come
with pregnancy.
Yoga will help and diminish the pregnancy related problems like
constipation, lower back pain, edema, weight gain, swelling, insomnia
etc. Through balancing your mind and body and through your own growth
and evolution in this wonderful period of your life, you will be able
to create a more harmonious relationship with your baby, your partner
and your environment.

ZEN WITH JENN
Hi! I’m Jenn Mallin and I’ve been sharing the art of yoga with students of all ages for more than seven years. Although the courses are based on Hatha Yoga, they are spiced with the multiple styles I encountered along the way. The classes I offer are also infused with my American Indian roots and studies of Acupressure & Chinese Medicine.
As a result, the sessions are influenced by the cycles of Nature; the seasons, the elements, the moons and the six directions. Each class consists of a meditation, yoga and meridian postures, breathing techniques, mantras, mudras and a guided relaxation.
I have trained with Viniyoga Lily Champagne (500h), Classical Hatha Yoga with Dr. Madan Bali (200h), Sivananda Yoga (200h) and Baron Baptiste Power Yoga Institute (112h).
I have more than 185 hours of kid’s yoga certifications, and have attended various workshops with world-renowned teachers such as Donna Farhi, Sean Corne, Paul Grilley and Susi Hately Aldous. I am also certified in Japanese & Chinese Acupressure and Reflexology.
