Adaptive Yoga is an alignment-based yoga, unifying body, mind, and spirit. It is a modern evolution of the traditional practice, which was always intended to suit the needs of the individual. The system works first with the physical body and its alignment, building an even balance between strength, stability, flexibility, and symmetry between the front and back of the body, left and right, upper and lower halves, linking as much of the body within consciousness as possible.
Traditional and esoteric aspects of yoga are introduced throughout the ongoing development of the physical practice to honor the yogic tradition. Though much of this process is achieved through yogic postures, many other traditional yogic tools are used whenever they may be to the student's maximum benefit. In Adaptive Yoga, the classical poses are adapted for individuals of all needs and abilities physiological, organic, mental, and energetic effects.

Suitable for all ages, levels and ability, the Bikram Yoga beginner series consist of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. This series of postures systematically and scientifically works through the entire body. Centre Luna Yoga is located amongst the boutiques, restaurants and offices of the business district in Old Montreal. It occupies a large open space, filled with natural light and vibrant energy. With high ceilings and 10 foot high windows looking out onto St-Paul Street, the air is peaceful and serene.
With the strong support of family, friends, and students, owner Jennifer Maagendans and co-manager/life partner Jason Kent opened the studio in July 2003. It has now become a sanctuary in Old Montreal offering a calm and soothing atmosphere for people to learn about, and discover, the path of Yoga.

A meditation is held on the Plateau Mont-Royal every Wednesday at 7:00pm. In the spirit of exchange, of sharing, a voluntary contribution is appreciated, as much as one can contribute. Welcome everyone.
The action of meditation can be simply understood as a moment to moment allowing, an opening full of curiosity to everything that arises, both inwardly and outwardly. Just as it is with Reality which manifests, supports and holds everything with no judgment and no rejection, by being intimately present to all that happens in ourselves without holding on to or pushing anything away, we give ourselves the possibility to see things as they are and thus realize their nature—both the nature of those that limit us as of those, more profound and essential, which make up this vast and rich Reality at once source, presence and substance of all goodness.

The mindfulness based stress reduction program, originally developed by Jon kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Care Center, is an approach to self care and effective coping with stress, illness, and chronic pain. This comprehensive 8 week program integrates mindfulness practices: the body scan, mindful yoga and meditation as well as discussion and group exercises as interventions to assist individuals in mobilizing their own inner resources for healing and for moving to a greater level of health and well-being. CD's containing guided meditations and a stress management workbook are provided to support one's home practice.
A full retreat day for integration is scheduled during the program's duration. Student rates available.

Amrita Choudhury is a dance and movement therapist with over 29 years experience in Indian sacred dance, mudras and Nritya yoga. Her grandfather was a yogi and Shaivite priest and her mother was her first dance teacher at the age of 4 in India.
Amrita was educated in India, at Santiniketan – Abode of Peace founded by the nobel prize recipient Rabindranath Tagore, where the relationship between nature, spirituality and the arts was part of everyday life.
She has specialized the art of Indian Classical/Sacred Dance, Yoga and therapeutic Mudras (symbolic hand gestures).
Amrita also performs anthropological research in the field of “Dance/Yoga & Anthropology” related to the yoginis/yogis of the ancient temples of India dating back to the Tantric tradition of Yoga and Sacred Dance. She carries a degree in Anthropology and is a respected dance researcher and choreographer.
Amrita teaches and performs globally and has made her home in Montreal.

Renaissance Yoga Montréal
One of the main elements of the Renaissance experience that encourages our members’ practice -and consequently life outside the class- to flourish is the simple premise that we offer individualized attention in small classes (typically less than 10 people) structured for the students in the class.
Our signature Soft Flow class for those beginning their yoga practice, or who prefer to practice at a more measured pace. The flow is deliberate and steady, and instructive; we build a strong foundation centred on intention, attention, deep breathing and techniques to facilitate the safe alignment and effectiveness of the form of the asanas and the movement in between. These classes are a lot of fun and there is much room for modifications to address the specific requirements of the people in the studio so that no-one is rushed or pushed into an uncomfortable place, yet all benefit from the class. This is a great place to become familiar with and to explore all that this practice has to offer.
The Intense & Dynamic class is for those with a seasoned Asthtanga Vinyasa Yoga practice. In these classes, the curriculum is more suited to students with an experienced practice and we are able to come much deeper into the practice at a slightly faster pace with full vinyasas, so that each individual’s practice continues to evolve. We do not offer typical multi-level classes, as we feel that they limit the exploration of students who are very experienced in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, and are typically too challenging for others. We are delighted to offer this class format for the serious practitioner, however to ensure the safety of our students it is not offered to new-timers.
Finally, we offer Restore & Rejuvenate classes for those looking for a very chill, laid-back experience, where we hold postures for longer to allow us to get into a deep release of tension and to completely relax. We are also able to spend time dealing with injuries and addressing specific areas of concern in the body. A great complement to the other, more active classes featured on the schedule.

I took yoga teacher training with the Esther Myers Yoga Studio in Toronto, in the Vanda Scaravelli method. This approach is based on three principles: the breath, the relationship to gravity and the mobility of the spine.
My studio is located near Square Victoria Metro and the Old Port of Montréal. I also teach in the Eastern Townships in Saturday mornings.

Studio Yoga Jam
Léah Hendriks teaches Yoga from a movement-oriented approach inspired by Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
Léah began practicing yoga in 1994. While a graduate student in Montréal, her love of yoga deepened to become part of her daily life and studies. In 2003, after completing her Masters in Film Studies, Léah brought yoga to the forefront in her life by enrolling in a yoga teacher-training course.
In 2005 Léah completed an extensive Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training program with additional teacher training in the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. She complements her studies in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with Anusara Yoga and softer variations of Hatha Yoga.

Yoga is simply the participation in the wonder of Life as it is already perfectly Given, and certainly not the imposition of the will on the body and breath.
Moving with the breath is an extraordinary medicine. We use the Asanas, the bodily forms to take part in the process of the breath and especially to receive the Inhalation, the Feminine Force, with all the systems of our anatomy from the crown to the base. The Exhalation strengthens all these systems. These are useful tools.
I teach the basic principles of Yoga and the Breath inspired by the tradition of Krishnamacharya; the alignment of the body inspired by Donna Farrhi, the Body-Mind Centering of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen; and the inner flowinspired by Angela Farmer. My philosophy is inspired by Mark Withwell, Alan Clements, U.G. and J. Krishnamurti, Andrew Harvey, Christiane Singer and Life itself. The mysterious constellation of the whole Universe within and outside of me, is my ultimate teacher. Danielle Ouellette, studio director.
